And thank you for taking the time to learn about me. Just take a second to give yourself a moment to appreciate that little step that you took on your journey and how many steps we can take in any given day. It is exciting to think about.

I'd like to tell you more about me and my personal journal; how I got here; what I'm trying to cultivate; some steps that I had to take to finally go after what I have always wanted.

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”
Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

My name is Danny D and want to tell you a little about myself. I'm a native of the Cleveland, Oh area and have taken it upon myself to go on this adventure of mine. A bit of a soul search. To apply what I know to help others succeed. This ambition led me to start Healthy Habits Coaching.

Throughout my life, I have never taken the easy way out of things. The reasoning behind it all my own, but mostly because I want to.

Recently in my life, I decided to present myself with a bit of a life challenge. Upon moving to Miami and "living the life", I felt an emptiness that I couldn't shake. As if I had unfinished business and it was not there. I was not happy the way I should have been; the way I assumed I should have been. My reasons for moving becoming  fake and artificial that I decided to sell my car, hitch a ride with a compadre I had met, and traveled to Las Vegas to see if any type of closure lies there.

Being not surprised at all at my unenthusiastic reaction to the city, I found it intolerable and found that the easy life was never going to be something I'm comfortable with. So what does any person do when they are in that situation?

The Journey

Moving Forward

Well, of course, they get rid of everything, move to a city they have never been, give themselves two weeks in a hostel to find a place to live, and just enough cash for one month of rent on the cheap. I put myself in a corner to see what I was made of.

I began immersing myself in nature; Leading to a rekindling of my past desires to climb rocks again; This led to me being more conscious of what I was putting in my body. As if fog slowly clearing in the sky and one is left with nothing but the feel of sunshine on their face. Stresses starting to go away. The stress from driving a car; Stress from that angry person that just wants to yell at you;  Or, to be very blunt, the stress of life.

Being in nature provided me a chance to sit and breath. Listen to the birds and smell the flowers. Breathing air not contaminated with as many pollutants and toxins that harm the body. Overall, it allowed my brain and body to connect and work in synergy rather than as separate, opposing forces.

From these events,  blossomed an idea. An ambition; To bring health and wellness knowledge to aid children of all demographics to make informed decisions when considering what they eat; Bring about health and wellness to communities that don't have access to health and wellness knowledge at their disposal and/or don't know where to look or start; To help those that I see at the grocery store confused about what items to buy for her family when everything is so expensive and no end in sight; To help those in the street that have lost everything and give them a sense of purpose through health and wellness.

To start my non-profit  with the objective of creating networks of health and wellness professionals who are able to expose their knowledge and expertise to a broader demographic of individuals in the Chattanooga, TN area. To not listen to those that say; "Well, that's just the way things are".

Looking Ahead

That is the passion and enthusiasm that I live with in my life. I'm not a doubter. I don't doubt anyone that doesn't doubt themselves. And I don't doubt those that haven't found out how to not doubt themselves. We all need just that little bit of help, from time to time, to navigate the path ahead. We are all in this together, but at the same time, we are in it on our own.

Am I the right health and wellness coach for you?

Why I would be a good wellness coach for you?

What my approach brings to others is the ability to tap into and start to understand the mind and body connection that exist in all us. This connection is best understood when we take steps to go after our intuition. Health and wellness is a piece of that puzzle. To figure out what health and wellness means to you and what your own health and wellness does for others.

Putting myself into a corner; Not having a car; Getting rid of all my assests; Travel to an unknown city with no job, no where to live, and nothing but a lap top and a under armor duffle bag that has been put through the ringer, I was at my furthest point before being homeless. Being able to establish a life, create great connections, pursue a sport others told me was not possible because of my body type; doing task that people called tough, or impossible, their has always been one main category of my life that allowed me to accomplish difficult goals. Leaning on health and wellness as my main companion through it all gave me the tools necessary to persevere.

After getting my Precision Nutrition Coaching Certification, I really started to notice a pattern in the way people were approaching their habits. Many have come to the conclusion that it is them. That it must have something to do with them. That the person is somehow weak if they aren't able to accomplish a task the way others have done it. "All or nothing is the only way" garbage. "Why do one thing right when I can do ten things at once"?

Time and time again, I would see people fall victim to this mindset driving all of their motivation and drive down the drain in just a few short weeks.  Everything cultivated thrown in the gutter. Why do we do this to ourselves?

Their is no way to decide if I'm the right person for you by reading a few lines in an "About" section of a random guy's dream without getting to know the person behind the dream. Relationships are cultivated with precise work and strategic plans. Along with friendly hellos and good questions.

Connecting the mind to the body and understanding the influence health and wellness has on our systems and perspectives. Creating a sturdy foundation built around health and wellness while providing opportunities for people to learn beyond their sessions. Being immersed in nature to allow ourselves to evaluate and collect. To not look at our health and wellness as a daily burden, and instead, a topic of celebration and happiness. To help others be motivated and happy daily to get after whatever it is they need to get after! This is what I bring. We all have the potential; I want to bring that potential out and unveil that person just waiting to come out.
